This past week has been interesting and insightful; the issue of inappropriate material on the web, porn to be precise, has been described by several adult clients as addictive... sure, one thing is to read about it, or when researchers state it in a congressional hearing, but to hear it from the mouths of those affected by it- makes you think! One man I spoke with described how he lost a great job because of his addiction, and, with a quivering voice, he assured me that without help he knew he would lose his current one as well. It felt great to be able to tell him he was not alone, that I was here to help him. It seems that the effects of eroded riverbanks is not only affecting the most vulnerable of our society-- our kids, but also adults...and I am not talking about "some pervert in a trench coat"; Actor David Duchovny recently entered rehab because of a self proclaimed porn addiction, and let's not forget Peter Cook-- Christie Brinkley’s husband and his $3,000/month porn addiction! A dear friend once said to me that “he was never quick to judge, because he would remind himself that “there go I, if not for the grace of God.” Thanks JD.

Don't get me wrong, I support what you are doing...but, how do you know these adult addicts aren't pedophiles or predators or something... how can you feel sorry for them? And David Duchovny, I read somewhere that it was all part of a divorce strategy or something, Later,LOL.

Thanks for your support... it is first of all important to understand that "NO" adult porn addicts are not pedophiles or predators or something... they are adults who have been exposed to pornography on the web, either intentionally or accidentally, and this exposure has taken on a mind of its own. Back in 2004 clinicians and researches went in front of a congressional panel and called internet porn "the new crack cocaine". Adults, who look for help in breaking this vicious and destructive cycle, deserve to be applauded as much as someone who seeks to stop smoking or drinking or gambling...maybe even more!
